How to update Limrox device firmware safely, and how to recover a device that no longer boots.
Update over the web console
Open System > Firmware, click Check for updates and follow the prompts. The device keeps the previous firmware in a fallback partition and rolls back automatically if the new image fails to boot.
Before you start
- Keep power stable — use a UPS or PoE during the update.
- Export your configuration backup first (System > Backup).
- Do not close the browser tab while the progress bar is running.
Update with a USB stick
Download the .lfw image from Downloads, copy it to a FAT32 USB stick, insert it into the device and choose System > Firmware > From USB.
Recovery mode
If the device fails to boot three times in a row it enters recovery mode:
- The status LED flashes amber twice per second.
- The device hosts a captive portal at
192.168.4.1on Wi-Fi APLIMROX-RECOVERY. - Upload the last-known-good
.lfwimage there; the device reboots into it.
Force recovery manually
Hold the recessed RESET button for 10 seconds at power-on until the LED turns amber.
If recovery also fails
Devices that cannot reach recovery mode usually have a hardware fault or corrupted bootloader. Contact support with your serial number and the LED blink pattern — we can ship a factory-restore tool for the N1 family.
