What this covers
A smart home installation is three problems wearing one coat: sensing what is happening, deciding what to do about it, and doing it reliably at three in the morning when nobody is watching. The hardware here covers the first and the third, and stays out of the way of whichever automation platform you have chosen for the second.
Where installers get stuck
Devices that only work inside one app
Everything in this range speaks a documented local protocol — Matter, Zigbee, MQTT or plain HTTP — so a hub failure or a vendor pivot does not brick the installation. Cloud accounts are optional, not load-bearing.
Battery devices that need a ladder every winter
Sensor battery life is specified at a stated reporting interval, not at a best case you will never see. Where mains power is available, wired variants of the same part numbers exist.
Cameras that send everything to someone else
The camera modules run detection on-device. What leaves the unit is an event, not a video stream, which is usually the difference between a project a landlord will approve and one they will not.
Getting started
The starter kit is the fastest way to see the stack working end to end. If you are specifying for a building rather than a room, send the floor plan and device count through the quote list and we will come back with a bill of materials and a realistic lead time.
